Derek Payne
FINANCE DIRECTOR
Derek Payne has a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Finance and in Information Systems and Management Science. He is a Certified Practising Accountant, currently engaged by Mineralogy Pty Ltd as Finance Director, Manager of Cold Mountain Stud Pty Ltd and director of Bushjet Pty Ltd.
Derek has a wide range of experience of business and financial management issues within a diverse range of industries including broadcasting, performance arts, corrections, financial services, training and mining development.
A particular focus has been the implementation of financial systems, policies and compliance for start ups and for newly corporatised entities. Derek has been actively engaged in Corporations Law compliance work, secretarial duties, strategic planning, built asset maintenance, IT network support as well as more usual financial controller functions and management and financial accounting operations.
Derek has made significant contributions to government enquiries pertaining to the performing arts. This involved major contributions to the “Orchestras Task Force” report, and to the Major Performing Arts Inquiry, the corporatisation of the ABC’s Australian network of orchestras and services to the inaugural board of the Queensland Orchestra. Derek has been awarded citations from CPA Australia for his work in support of not for profit organisations.
